The Edo State Government, in partnership with the National Primary Health Care Development Agency (NPHCDA), is set to commence the second phase of the Big Catch-Up (BCU) immunization campaign from February 17th to 24th, 2025 across the State.
The Big Catch-Up initiative is designed to boost immunization coverage and curb the spread of vaccine-preventable diseases, ensuring that no child is left behind in accessing life-saving vaccines.

It is important to note that The COVID-19 pandemic and its associated lockdowns severely disrupted routine immunization schedules, leading to the resurgence of vaccine-preventable diseases.
To close this immunization gap, the Edo State Government is intensifying efforts to reach unimmunized and under-immunized children through a well-coordinated catch-up strategy.
This campaign specifically targets children under the ages of five (0–59 months) who missed their routine vaccinations, leaving them vulnerable to preventable illnesses.

During this period, healthcare workers will be actively present in communities and at all Primary Health Care Centres to administer the necessary vaccines to eligible children. Parents, caregivers, and stakeholders are urged to ensure no child is left out by making their children’s or wards’ vaccination cards available for assessment by vaccinators and healthcare workers.
Kindly note that the Big Catch-Up is a vital opportunity to protect children from preventable diseases and strengthen public health efforts in Edo State.
