EDSPHCDA IN COLLABORATION WITH UNICEF AND OTHER PARTNERS FLAGS OFF FIRST ROUND MATERNAL NEWBORN AND CHILD HEALTH WEEK (MNCHW) CAMPAIGN IN UGBEKUN CLINIC, IKPOBA OKHA BENIN CITY, ON FRIDAY JULY 12TH, 2024.

The flag-off ceremony was simultaneously held across all LGAs in Edo State and chaired by the Executive Chairmen or their representatives. While speaking during the State Flag Off event held at Ikpoba Okha LGA, the Executive Secretary Edo State Primary Healthcare Development Agency (EDSPHCDA), Dr. Omosigho Izedonmwen, highlighted the Government’s commitment to bringing healthcare services directly to the community, by providing solar power, water, furniture, medical equipment, essential drugs and trained health workers to deliver quality care so they people do not have to go far to access healthcare.

He called on all stakeholders to join efforts with the Agency and its partners to spread the information about this current MNCHW campaign and increase full participation of caregivers who will take their eligible children aged 6-59 months to the clinics in the communities to receive nutrition commodities. He added that routine immunization will also be provided alongside other services across the 18 LGAs in Edo State.

Also speaking was Dr. Eric Osayande, the Executive Chairman of Ikpoba Okha Local Government Area who expressed his gratitude to the guests for gracing the flag occasion. Dr. Osayande also spoke on the importance of the Maternal and Child Health Week Campaign for the well-being of Edo children and urged mothers to bring their kids to the facilities to receive nutrition commodities as well as monitor their growth.
