Agency Responsibilities

Welcome to the Responsibilities page of the Edo State Primary Health Care Development Agency. Here, we outline our core responsibilities and commitments to the residents of Edo State in ensuring the delivery of comprehensive and high-quality primary health care services.

As the primary health care development agency for Edo State, we are responsible for strategic planning and coordination of primary health care programs and services. We work closely with government agencies, health care providers, community organizations, and other stakeholders to develop and implement health policies, guidelines, and standards that promote the well-being of our communities.

We are tasked with the implementation and monitoring of primary health care programs and services across the state. This includes ensuring the availability and accessibility of essential health care interventions, such as immunization, maternal and child health care, family planning, nutrition support, and disease prevention and control. We regularly monitor the performance of health facilities and programs to evaluate effectiveness, identify areas for improvement, and ensure accountability.

One of our key responsibilities is to build capacity and enhance the skills of health care providers and community health workers. We provide training, mentorship, and support to ensure that health workers are equipped with the knowledge, skills, and resources necessary to deliver high-quality primary health care services. By investing in capacity building, we strengthen the health workforce and improve the quality of care provided to our communities.

We are responsible for mobilizing and managing resources to support primary health care initiatives in Edo State. This includes securing funding, supplies, equipment, and human resources necessary to deliver essential health services. We prioritize resource allocation based on population needs, health priorities, and evidence-based interventions to maximize impact and ensure sustainability.

Advocacy and partnership are integral components of our responsibilities. We advocate for policies, legislation, and investments that promote health and wellness, address health inequities, and advance the rights of individuals to access quality health care services. We also collaborate with government agencies, non-governmental organizations, donors, and other stakeholders to leverage resources, expertise, and networks to support our primary health care programs and initiatives.

We are committed to engaging with communities and empowering individuals to take ownership of their health and well-being. We promote community participation in health decision-making, program planning, and implementation to ensure that services are responsive to local needs and preferences. Through community outreach, education, and mobilization, we empower individuals to adopt healthy behaviors, seek preventive care, and actively participate in health promotion activities.

Innovation and quality improvement are central to our responsibilities. We embrace innovative approaches, technologies, and best practices to enhance the delivery and effectiveness of primary health care services. We continuously monitor and evaluate our programs, seek feedback from stakeholders, and implement evidence-based interventions to improve health outcomes, enhance patient experience, and optimize the use of resources. By fostering a culture of innovation and continuous learning, we strive to achieve excellence in all aspects of our work.
