The Rotary Club on Wednesday, 29th July 2026, organized a maternal health outreach at the Afuze Referral Medical Center in Owan East Local Government Area, Edo State, to support pregnant women and new mothers.
According to the report from Assistant Health Education Officer Owan East. Mrs. Rachel Osamoje, the outreach, focused on promoting safe motherhood through health education and practical support. During the program, expectant mothers received health talks on the importance of attending regular antenatal care visits, delivering in health facilities with skilled birth attendants, and adopting healthy practices during pregnancy.
To further support the pregnant women, the Rotary Club distributed essential items to help them prepare for safe deliveries and the arrival of their babies.
A sum of N50,000 was presented to two mothers who had successfully delivered their babies at the health facility. The financial support was aimed at encouraging facility-based delivery and providing relief to beneficiaries as they begin caring for their newborns.


The management of the Referral Medical Center and Beneficiaries expressed their gratitude to the Rotary Club for its generosity and continued support towards improving maternal and newborn health in Owan East LGA.
